ProfessorElias received his B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania, his M.A. and Ph.D. in PoliticalScience from Pennsylvania State University. He is the former Department Chair of Politics, and Graduate Program Director of InternationalStudies, at the University of San Francisco, where he is currentlyProfessor of Politics and Legal Studies.
He taught previously at the University ofCalifornia, Berkeley, Tufts University, Penn State University, SonomaState University, and the University of Maryland. He lived and taught in Europe for nearly two years, and worked at several non-governmental organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.
He has extensive professional editorial experience--as a book editor and manuscript reviewer for publishers, as associate editor of several academic journals, and as theEditor-in-Chief of the international journal, Peace Review, for more than twenty years. He is the author and editor of many books, including ThePolitics of Victimization (Oxford University Press).
Professor Elias has advised students on admissions for more than thirty-five years. He enjoys the challenge of college applications, and looks forward to guiding students through the process. Together with his wife, Professor Jennifer Turpin, he founded and runs SkybridgeCollege Consulting, a company that provides individualized college admissions consulting services to students from across the world. Over the last few years, they have assisted students in gaining admission to some of the most prestigious universities in the United States.
